Thank you to LEONARD MALTIN and his book SELECTED SHORT SUBJECTS, which introduced me to several images and titles I knew I had to start digging up.
A very special and huge thank you to my friends TED OKUDA and EDWARD WATZ, authors of THE COLUMBIA COMEDY SHORTS, for allowing me to borrow from your book and for allowing me to use so much of your shared knowledge and information about these short-subjects throughout the pages of this website.
And...last but not least...a loving thank you to my father, ROBERT E HILBRICH, who I dedicate this site to.
My dad saw these little two-reelers first run when he was growing up in NW Indiana in the 1930's and 1940's. It was during an afternoon broadcast of COMEDY CLASSICS that he brought up folks like Andy Clyde, El Brendel and Buster Keaton and questioned why they (tv stations) never played their films.
With that question, my obsession with the short-subjects of Columbia Pictures was born.
