Vera Vague's Laff Tours (1948-1949)
A short-lived series of comedic travelogues narrated by radio's (and Columbia two-reel comedy star) Vera Vague (Barbara Jo Allen). The first short, A LASS IN ALASKA is filed as a two-reel subject. A 16mm print of the second short, SITKA SUE, resides in our collection and is a one-reeler. I believe the first to also be one-reel in length.
The subject of both titles is Alaska, and the footage for both was most likely shot at the same time for quite possibly another travel series at the studio.
A Lass In Alaska (8/8/1948) D: Ralph Staub. Barbara Joe Allen aka Vera Vague narrates.
Sitka Sue (1/20/1949) D: Ralph Staub. Barbara Joe Allen aka Vera Vague narrates and appears in this short about the town of Sitka, Alaska.
